The original “Souvenir of Castlemaine and District” collection was published by Verey & Co in 1904. It was printed by the Periodicals Publishing Company, 21 Elizabeth Street in Melbourne. As the cover suggests, the original contained “26 Photographic Views” – taken around the district by Adolphus Verey. However – this little book contains 22 images.

The Church on the Hill – Taradale

The first recorded Anglican services at Taradale took place in 1855 when the Reverend F G Barton, the indefatigable Incumbent of Kyneton, took two service in a room of the Taradale Hotel. In the same year he also visited the town to take religious instruction for the school children.
